Personal POA

About Police Clearance POA

A police clearance power of attorney lets you authorize someone else to get your Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) in Dubai or any other emirate. The PCC is issued by the UAE police as proof of good conduct, covering both your criminal and security record in the country.

You may need a PCC for a job, immigration, a licence application, studies and other purposes. If you have already left the UAE, a representative can handle the application for you.

We prepare the POA so the application can move forward without delays. The powers below are typical examples, and others can be included.

Powers you can assign

  • Represent you before police departments
  • Represent you before ministries and other government authorities
  • Sign the paperwork needed to issue the certificate
  • Submit the application for you
  • Provide the supporting documents
  • Pay fees and follow up on the request
  • Collect the certificate
  • Arrange attestation for use abroad

Police Clearance POA

Your questions,
answered.

What does a police clearance POA do?

It lets a representative, often a relative, friend or legal consultant, apply for your Police Clearance Certificate and pick it up for you. The request can be made with Dubai Police or another police department in the UAE.

Can someone apply for my police clearance if I am outside the UAE?

Yes. If you are abroad or cannot apply in person, you can give a trusted person a POA to make the application for you.

What should the POA include?

It should clearly allow your attorney to apply for the certificate, hand in the required documents, act for you before Dubai Police or the relevant authority, and collect the certificate for you.

Do I need to be present for fingerprints or biometrics?

You only need to attend if the UAE has never recorded your biometrics. If they are already on file, your attorney can complete the process without you.

Can the POA cover online and in-person applications?

Yes. Depending on its wording, your attorney can apply online through the Dubai Police smart services or go to a service centre in person.

Does the POA need notarization and attestation?

Yes. A POA made in the UAE needs notarization before a UAE Notary Public. One made abroad must first be notarized in that country, after which the UAE Embassy there and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) must attest it.

Can an heir get a deceased relative’s police clearance through a POA?

Yes. Heirs dealing with probate, inheritance or immigration matters often need a late relative’s PCC, and they can request it from the UAE authorities through a POA.

Does the POA change the certificate?

No. The certificate covers the principal’s own criminal record, not the attorney’s. The POA simply lets the attorney apply and has no effect on the certificate’s content or validity.

Does the certificate need attestation?

If you will use it abroad, it usually needs to be attested. Your representative can arrange this too.

Which emirate issues the certificate?

Certificates are issued by the police of the relevant emirate. We tailor the POA to the right authority.
