Frequently asked
questions.
Answers to the questions we hear most often about our POA services. Can’t find yours? Just ask.
01Getting started
What does a power of attorney cost?
Every type of POA starts from AED 499. The final fee depends on the service you need, such as the type of POA and whether notarization is included, so contact us for a quote tailored to you.
What information should a POA include?
The key details are who the principal and the attorney are, the exact powers being granted and the nature of the authority you are handing over. We help you set these out clearly in the draft.
Can one POA name more than one attorney?
In some jurisdictions, yes. One document can appoint several attorneys, each with specific roles and responsibilities, and you can decide whether they act jointly or independently. We confirm what is allowed in your case.
How long does it take to prepare a POA?
Most drafts are ready within one working day once we have your details and documents.
Is there a limit to how often I can change my draft?
No. You can ask for changes to your POA draft as many times as you like, at no extra cost, so the wording is exactly right before you sign.
02Notarization and validity
What ways are there to notarize a UAE POA?
There are two: in person, by visiting a notary public, or electronically, with your identity checked over a video call. We can help you with either route and confirm which one suits your POA.
How is a POA signed and notarized in Dubai?
You sign the POA before a notary public, who confirms that it is authentic. In most cases you only need a valid passport or Emirates ID, though some POA types need extra documents and requirements can vary between jurisdictions. We tell you exactly what applies to yours.
How do I make sure a POA is authentic?
Authenticity comes from having the POA notarized, preparing the right supporting documents and following the legal procedures of the jurisdiction where it will be used.
Does a POA made in one emirate cover assets in another?
Yes. Every POA we prepare is valid in all seven emirates, so it can cover assets registered in a different emirate from the one where it was made.
Can I cancel a POA after it is issued?
Yes. In most cases the principal can revoke a POA, usually through a notarized revocation, which we can also prepare for you. The rules can differ from one jurisdiction to another.
Can I use my POA outside the UAE?
It depends on the rules and legal procedures of the country where you want to use it. An apostille or legalization may be needed for the POA to be recognized there.
How do I keep my POA effective over time?
Review it regularly and update it whenever needed, so it keeps pace with changes in your circumstances and in the law.
03Residency and eligibility
Can non-residents make a UAE power of attorney?
Yes. You do not need to be a UAE resident to make one. Non-residents can sign a POA in the UAE, online where available, or abroad and have it legalized for use here.
Can my attorney live outside the UAE?
Yes. Your attorney does not have to be a UAE resident, although it is usually more practical to choose someone who can attend appointments here.
What is the minimum age for a principal or an attorney?
Applicants must generally be at least 18 years old and have the legal capacity to grant a Power of Attorney, and the same applies to the person you appoint. Additional requirements may apply depending on the transaction and the relevant authority.
I’m leaving the UAE for good. Can someone else sell my car?
Yes. Make a vehicle POA naming a person you trust, and they can handle the sale of your car once you have left.
Can I use a POA signed abroad in the UAE?
Usually, yes, once it has been notarized and legalized in the country of signing and attested by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
