Personal POA
Appoint a representative to handle probate and inheritance proceedings in the UAE, so heirs abroad do not have to travel for every court, bank or registry step.
Personal POA
If you are a legal heir to assets in Dubai or another emirate, an inheritance power of attorney lets you appoint someone to take care of the probate proceedings for you. It is essential when you live outside the UAE and need a representative to secure the succession certificate and probate order before the estate can be shared out.
Inheritance cases can involve several authorities and many appointments, and one POA can serve one or more heirs. We draft it to match the estate, the heirs involved and the court handling the case, and the powers listed below are examples rather than a full list.

Inheritance POA
It is a legal document that lets someone you trust, called the attorney-in-fact, act for a legal heir in inheritance matters. This can cover attending court, claiming movable or immovable assets, carrying out the estate distribution and dealing with UAE government entities.
It is usually needed when an heir lives outside the UAE or cannot handle succession matters in person. It is particularly useful in cases heard by the Sharia Courts, the civil courts or the Inheritance Department of Dubai Courts.
Yes, provided the POA expressly lets the attorney deal with real estate, such as registering, selling, transferring or managing the inherited property. Vague authorizations are rejected by courts and land departments.
Yes, this is strictly required. For a POA signed in the UAE, a UAE notary public must notarize it, which can also be done online. One signed abroad must first be notarized in the country of signing, then attested by the UAE Embassy there, legalized by MOFA, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and then translated into Arabic by a UAE-certified legal translator.
Yes, and several heirs can appoint the same representative. Either every heir is named clearly as a principal in one joint POA, or each heir signs a POA of their own. The attorney’s powers must also be spelled out for every asset or action, since vague wording can lead courts or authorities to reject it.
No. The attorney cannot set any heir’s share and does not become the owner of the assets. The estate is divided according to the inheritance certificate that the UAE court or other competent authority issues, and the attorney simply carries out what each heir is legally entitled to.
