Power of attorney in Dubai
A power of attorney (POA) lets you authorize someone you trust to act for you, whether that means selling a car, managing a property or representing your company.
In the UAE, a POA is usually drafted in English and Arabic and notarized before it is used, and government bodies, courts and banks across the country accept it. Whether you need a general or a property POA, we draft it accurately, in line with what the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department and Dubai Courts expect.

For Dubai Courts and other UAE authorities to accept your POA, it has to meet UAE legal requirements. Keep these points in mind:
A general POA gives wide authority, but some authorities ask for a specific POA for certain actions, such as selling property. Check that a general POA fits your purpose before you sign.
Your attorney must be at least 18 and of sound mind. It can be a family member, a friend, a trusted professional or a licensed company representative.
A valid passport or Emirates ID is needed to notarize a POA in Dubai or Abu Dhabi. Non-residents may need extra steps, depending on the emirate.
A POA stays valid until you revoke it, unless it has an end date. Some are made for a short period only, and every POA ends on the death of the principal.

Every type of POA starts from AED 499. The final fee depends on the service you need, such as the type of POA and whether notarization is included, so contact us for a quote tailored to you.
The key details are who the principal and the attorney are, the exact powers being granted and the nature of the authority you are handing over. We help you set these out clearly in the draft.
In some jurisdictions, yes. One document can appoint several attorneys, each with specific roles and responsibilities, and you can decide whether they act jointly or independently. We confirm what is allowed in your case.
Most drafts are ready within one working day once we have your details and documents.
No. You can ask for changes to your POA draft as many times as you like, at no extra cost, so the wording is exactly right before you sign.
There are two: in person, by visiting a notary public, or electronically, with your identity checked over a video call. We can help you with either route and confirm which one suits your POA.
You sign the POA before a notary public, who confirms that it is authentic. In most cases you only need a valid passport or Emirates ID, though some POA types need extra documents and requirements can vary between jurisdictions. We tell you exactly what applies to yours.
Authenticity comes from having the POA notarized, preparing the right supporting documents and following the legal procedures of the jurisdiction where it will be used.
Yes. Every POA we prepare is valid in all seven emirates, so it can cover assets registered in a different emirate from the one where it was made.
Yes. In most cases the principal can revoke a POA, usually through a notarized revocation, which we can also prepare for you. The rules can differ from one jurisdiction to another.
It depends on the rules and legal procedures of the country where you want to use it. An apostille or legalization may be needed for the POA to be recognized there.
Review it regularly and update it whenever needed, so it keeps pace with changes in your circumstances and in the law.
